The church sanctuary, situated between St Marcel and St Martin de Belleville was built between 1635 and 1680 and is still one of the main pilgrimage sites in the Savoie.
The Notre Dame de la Vie chapel is a symbolic monument of the Belleville Valley and boasts one of the oldest Baroque altarpieces in the Tarentaise as well as some of the most magnificent religious artwork of the 17th Century.
Nicolas Deschamps who also designed the church in Villargerel, created the building centered around a Greek cross under the central dome. Inside, the dome is decorated with frescoes representing the Old Testament and above the high altar the images depict the life of the Virgin Mary.
